My Favorite Hooks!

I have had some people asking what type of hooks I like to use when making dolls...so I thought I would do up a quick post about it. I have tried many hooks...from Bamboo Hooks to Boye Aluminum Hooks, to Plastic, Wooden, Clover Soft Touch Hooks and Addi Swing Hooks! And the super cute Tulip Etimo Rose Cushion Grip Crochet Hook Set...
It's a little pricey about $170 ....but it is comfy and feels nice in your hand while crocheting!

I noticed a while ago that Clover came out with Clover Amour Crochet Hooks! They have a handle made from elastomer rubber. And you can buy them individually! So I decided to order one and see if there is much of a difference between them.
After using both I have to admit they are both great hooks! The thumb rest is a bit thicker and wider on the Clover Hook. But they both feel nice and are by far the best hooks I have ever used! So if you are looking for a hook that's comfy and easy on the hands, these are great!

    1. No problem :) I know they are quite pricey and it took me a long time to find a set for sale too, but I do love them.

  2. This is good to know... the more I get into crocheting the less I am digging my moms old aluminum hooks. Thanks for the info and comparison.

  3. Thanks for the review. I just bought the Clove Amour and love them. When I shared it with a crochet buddy that loves Tulip, she said the Amour's grip is harder and the hook is heavier. She said the Tulip has a cushiony and smoother feel. Would you agree with her statement?

    1. Hello,

I love both the Clover and Tulip Hooks...they are my go to hooks for crocheting. I find they are very similar. However the rubber on the Tulip hooks is a tiny bit softer, but for me it was only a small difference. If there is a weight difference between the two hooks I don't notice it, they feel about the same weight for me, but the thumb rest is bigger on the Amour hook.

I love both sets. And to be honest they are the only hooks I use now. I switch back and forth between my Tulips and Clovers.
